Wattens | Swarovski

Giving a town its own story

What do you do when your entire identity is one brand - and that brand is moving on?

Wattens had been in Swarovski's shadow for decades. With the crystal company repositioning globally, the town needed a vision of its own - one that could attract a new creative and entrepreneurial community without erasing what made it distinctly Austrian.

Working with Winkreative, embedded in the Tyrolean Alps across several weeks of stakeholder interviews and workshops, I led the vision and experience strategy. The result was a placemaking roadmap that aligned the local authority, the Tyrol tourism board and the community around a single idea - turning a town overshadowed by its industrial past into an open, entrepreneurial destination with a future worth choosing.
